Thanksgiving Day

November 16, 2016

Thanksgiving is a day for family and friends, we welcome all into our homes to gather around the table to share one the biggest meals of the year. Whether it’s lunch or dinner for your family; the amount and variety of food is more than any family could consume in one day.

Leading up to the big day the hosting family dusts, sweeps, freshens all corners of the house, not without complaints from children and husbands. The night before everyone arrives you take one last glance before you go to bed to make sure everything is perfect; like that could happen when you’ve got  kids running around and a dog that won’t stop shedding.  You notice a stain on the carpets that just magically appeared, a ring on the coffee table from a drinking glass, and your sink looks dingy from all the dishes that have passed through in the past week.

Here are a few tricks and tips to help you in these last few days before the big feast!

Do you have an old stubborn stain in your carpets that need to come up before everyone comes into your home, of course you do. We all do!

  1. Pour a little vinegar to cover the stain (I’ve found getting a small spray bottle and spritzing is a lot easier than trying to pour “a little” vinegar out of the giant container)
  2. Sprinkle baking soda over the vinegar
  3. Let the vinegar and baking soda bubble up (this is where the magic happens)
  4. Rub away the stain (I prefer to use a white microfiber cloth) and vacuum up any remnants of the baking soda vinegar paste.
  5. Voila! Pesky stain is gone.

Do you have coasters on your wooden coffee table, yet your sons glass of sweet tea sits 4 inches away from the coaster and perspires all over your table leaving this faded ring. Yup, me too! This hack is totally easy, you just might have to keep your pets caged for one night.

This is super easy:

  1. Place mayonnaise on moisture ring
  2. Go to bed
  3. Wake up, wipe up mayonnaise residue from table
  4. Voila! The ring has vanished.

So you’ve been cleaning like a mad woman and you’ve had a million dishes go through your sink, dirty water from mopping, and all the Thanksgiving day preparations for making your feast. The sink is dingy and it smells funky, this tip has kept my sink shining and refreshened for any gathering that is hosted at my house.

  1. Sprinkle baking soda all over sink
  2. Cut your lemon in 2 halves
  3. Scrub your sink with1 half of the lemon using the baking soda as a grit
  4. Rise our your sink thoroughly
  5. Enjoy your fresh sink

(If you have a garbage disposal let the lemon half and a few ice cubes go down the hatch)

I hope your Thanksgiving day runs smoothly and your house stays tidy,

Happy Thanksgiving.
